The Episcopal Church of South Sudan (ECSS) has been involved in education in the region since 1906, facilitating the operation of many schools at multiple levels. In recent years, significant effort has been made to launch a multiple-campus higher education program known as The Episcopal University (TEU). Juba, the capital of South Sudan, is home to one of the University’s campuses. However, the facilities are outdated and the campus is in need of a new master plan.
The campus currently provides space for 300 theology students, in addition to staff, but hopes to expand to include a Law program as well as classes in business and administration. The project will include an assessment of the existing campus facilities as well as a master plan for the site rehabilitation and expansion. Services to be provided by the EMI team include:
- Site Survey
- Campus Architectural Programming
- Phased Master Plan
- Conceptual Building Design for Phase 1 construction
- Site Infrastructure Planning for water, wastewater, stormwater, and electrical systems
TEU believes eduacation is the key to stability, peace, and development in Sudan. EMI has already partnered with TEU for the master plan of the main university campus in Rokon, and is pleased to be invited back to South Sudan to assist with the needs of this campus in Juba.
We are looking to mobilize a team of EMI staff and volunteers to South Sudan for a 2-week trip in early November. Will you prayerfully consider joining us in designing a world of hope for The Episcopal University of South Sudan? Click "I'm interested" above if you would like more information. This project will be a collaboration with our EMI MENA office.
Due to government regulations, volunteers will need to provide proof of Covid-19 vaccination to participate in this trip.
